Welcome to Earl's Grocery & Saloon!

Come in and join in the fun at Earl's Grocery & Saloon where the refreshments are plenty and the company is entertaining. Earl's is newly remodeled in the old 'Nighthawks' location, but has a long history as the oldest bar in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Earls Bar
Earls "clubhouse atmosphere" was redone by owners and brothers Bill, Jim, Greg and Bob Flottmeyer, who have owned the former Nighthawk’s Tap building for the past three years. After the longtime blues haunt closed this fall, they and an army of friends got to work taking the building back down to its origins and reopening as Earl's. Nine weeks of intense remodeling has exposed the original brick walls, beadboard ceiling and wood floor of what had been a grocery store in 1870, and became a combination grocery and saloon in 1895. The name of the bar, 'Earls' is in honor of good friend Earl Mayer, who lost his fight with skin cancer two years ago.

Earl's is open from 4 p.m. to close Tuesday through Friday and noon to close on Saturdays. Closed Sunday and Mondays. Modern touches include five large-screen televisions, and the back room can be rented for parties or meetings. The phone number is 608-785-EARL (3275). Earl's is also on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/earlssaloon.
